About Counselling
Brighton & Hove
What brings people to therapy?
It could be a major life event like a bereavement or breakup. But it’s often painful experiences playing on repeat like anxiety, addiction or relationship problems. These can be distressing and confusing. Yet they are often adaptations to past stresses or trauma - your psyches best way of coping. The trouble is that these adaptations tend to stick around and become problematic in themselves. Counselling can help you understand these patterns, while addressing emotional or traumatic experience at a pace that’s right for you.
My approach to therapy
A humanistic approach invites exploration of your way of being in the world and any blocks to finding agency and presence in your life. This means pausing and turning towards your thoughts and feelings to get to know your experiences more deeply. I hold a compassionate and non-judgemental space as I support you in this process.
My work is trauma-informed which means I understand the impact of trauma on mind and body, and I’m experienced working with trauma survivors and post-traumatic stress.
How to get started…
It's important to find the right therapist for you, so I offer an initial session to explore working together. After that, if you’d like to proceed, we can make a regular weekly booking.
